Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Acceptance in Educational Management at Administration Police Training College in Embakasi, Kenya

Abstract

This study examined the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in educational management at the Administration Police Training College (APTC). While ICT has the potential to enhance administrative efficiency and instructional delivery, its adoption at APTC remains low due to limited infrastructure, inadequate training, negative attitudes, and weak policy support. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, targeting 125 staff members from eight faculties through purposive and random sampling. Data were gathered via questionnaires, interviews, and observations, and analyzed using SPSS. Findings indicated minimal ICT utilization in educational management despite occasional use in teaching. Key barriers include poor ICT skills among staff, lack of formal training, and insufficient integration into administrative and learning processes. The absence of clear ICT policies further limits progress. To enhance ICT adoption, the study recommends integrating ICT training into the curriculum, providing formal training for instructors, developing comprehensive ICT policies, and investing in infrastructure and digital learning platforms. These steps are crucial to realizing ICT’s full potential in modernizing law enforcement education at APTC.
